Description

Spring balance beams are exactly like math logic puzzles or math brain teasers! In these 4th or 5th grade spring logic puzzles, students solve to make each side of the balance beam equal while practicing multidigit multiplication and long division! These spring brain teasers are perfect for building critical thinking skills, for fast finishers, early finishers, math talks, gifted students, as morning brain teasers, and an early finishers math packet. Print and digital versions are included for fourth and fifth grade as well as a recording sheet and color/b&w. 10 math puzzles are included that work great for the months of March, April, or May.

Save 50% when you buy the bundle of all 12 Balance Beam Sets for Upper Elementary!

HOW TO PLAY:

Students figure out what the objects equal on each balance beam to make the sides equal to one another. A recording sheet is included for students to record their answers on. Simply laminate one set, print out a recording sheet for each student, and you're ready to go!

There are 10 spring math challenges included for upper elementary students that are all spring themed. Fourth, fifth, and sixth grade students will enjoy this fun challenge that practices addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division all in one activity.

Finding activities to engage students who are continually finishing early or need that extra enrichment can be a challenge on a daily basis. I like to use these as monthly math centers and are a go-to activity for my high-ability students. These balance beam activities can also be referred to as brain teasers or logic puzzles. This particular set is great for use in the spring or end of the year.

Aligns with 4.NBT.4, 4.NBT.5, 4.NBT.6, 5.NBT.5, and 5.NBT.6 and are great for building critical thinking.

Students will practice with multi-digit adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing. There is 1 digit, 2 digit, 3 digit, and 4 digit problems included. Students figure out the missing factor, quotient, or product. They are also great enrichment for accelerated learners in third grade who know and understand how to multiply and divide multi-digit numbers.
