They're conveniently available as both printable brain teaser worksheets and digital formats via Google Slides. With 10 logic puzzles included as early finisher activities, along with a recording sheet, and options for both color and black-and-white versions, these puzzles are perfect for the months of March, April, or May.

There are ten spring puzzles included that are perfect for the month of April or May. These brain teasers help students practice finding unknowns in addition and subtraction equations. Add and subtract practice! A recording sheet is included for students to record answers on.

An easy activity to slip into a math center or project whole group as a math number talk! There is both a color and black and white version included to best fit your needs. Answer keys are provided for self-checking or teacher convenience.

When I use these in my classroom, I put them in a math center. I print them 4 to a page so they fit in the color task card boxes you can find at local stores. I have students solve each one and then provide them with the answer key for self-checking. It's easy to use and print-and-go. No prep required!

  • TEKS K.3B: solve word problems using objects and drawings to find sums up to 10 and differences within 10

This aligns with 1st Grade Texas TEKS:

  • TEKS 1.3B: use objects and pictorial models to solve word problems involving joining, separating, and comparing sets within 20 and unknowns as any one of the terms in the problem such as 2 + 4 = [ ]; 3 + [ ] = 7; and 5 = [ ] - 3
  • TEKS 1.3D: apply basic fact strategies to add and subtract within 20, including making 10 and decomposing a number leading to a 10
  • TEKS 1.3E: explain strategies used to solve addition and subtraction problems up to 20 using spoken words, objects, pictorial models, and number sentences
  • TEKS 1.3F: generate and solve problem situations when given a number sentence involving addition or subtraction of numbers within 20
  • TEKS 1.5F: determine the unknown whole number in an addition or subtraction equation when the unknown may be any one of the three or four terms in the equation
  • TEKS 1.5G: apply properties of operations to add and subtract two or three numbers
