Description

Need to increase the engagement in your math time? These Spring Math Mystery Picture Puzzles are the perfect resource to learn and review math skills in the classroom. 4 (or more) skills will be included - addition and subtraction within 10 (including missing numbers to 10), telling time, place value (including base ten blocks, number value, and expanded form), and double digit addition and subtraction with and without regrouping to 100.

The picture puzzle mat and cards make for a fun and engaging center or early finisher activity. These LOW PREP spring themed picture puzzles are a quick print, laminate and cut activity that can be used over and over again. The cut and paste mystery picture puzzle options make for a fun independent, small group, or whole group activity to review and practice addition and subtraction math skills. Students learn how to use these puzzles once and then each subsequent time they are used with different math skill puzzles throughout the year, students already know how to play the center or complete the cut and paste puzzle. Use on their own or have students use the scratch paper provided to show their work and aid in completing the puzzle. Students will love solving the puzzle and creating the mystery picture!

Compose and decompose numbers from 11 to 19 into ten ones and some further ones, e.g., by using objects or drawings, and record each composition or decomposition by a drawing or equation (e.g., 18 = 10 + 8); understand that these numbers are composed of ten ones and one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, or nine ones.
Understand that the two digits of a two-digit number represent amounts of tens and ones. Understand the following as special cases:
Add within 100, including adding a two-digit number and a one-digit number, and adding a two-digit number and a multiple of 10, using concrete models or drawings and strategies based on place value, properties of operations, and/or the relationship between addition and subtraction; relate the strategy to a written method and explain the reasoning used. Understand that in adding two-digit numbers, one adds tens and tens, ones and ones; and sometimes it is necessary to compose a ten.
