This spring measuring activities BUNDLE contains 3 fun and engaging resources that will instill love for measuring using standard and non standard methods (more non standard focused). Students get to move around the room and measure fun spring graphics such as kites, birdhouses, plants and fences! They get to play a fun spring measuring game with their peers and they also get to practice and review using the NO PREP spring measuring worksheets in this bundle. You are set to have a lot of measuring fun this spring!

Spring Measuring Task Cards Scoot

These standard and non standard spring measuring centers are a perfect way to introduce or help students practice measuring length and height using different units of measurement. Students will practice measuring kites, plants, bird houses and garden fences using any method you require - snap cubes, mini erasers, paper clips, standard rulers to measure in centimeters and inches (nearest half or quarter inch) or use any of the fun thematic rulers provided in the resource.

Get students moving by using these in a SCOOT game or measure the room game. Simply place the task cards around the room and allow students to walk around and measure the task card and record their findings on the recording sheets provided.

You will find in this resource 4 different measuring centers or sets of task cards.

1. Measuring Kites

2. Measuring Bird Houses

3. Measuring Plants

4. Measuring Garden Fences

Each center comes with 9 measuring task cards in color and black and white for you to print on colored paper if you so wish. That’s a total of 36 color and 36 black and white task cards. 4 recording sheets are available to make differentiation between your students easy!

Each set of task cards has 4 worksheets or recording sheets:

Recording Sheet 1 : Measure how tall each element is in the chosen unit of measurement.

Recording Sheet 2: Measure the height and width of each element using the chosen unit of measurement.

Recording Sheet 3: Open ended – choose height, width or both and unit of measurement with images as visual aids.

Recording Sheet 4: Open ended – choose height, width or both and unit of measurement with task card numbers.

They will write down their form of measurement at the top of the page and then fill in the recording sheet.

Spring Measuring Worksheets

These NO PREP PRINT & GO non standard spring measuring worksheets are a perfect way to introduce or help students practice and review measuring lengths and heights using fun spring graphics.

Students will practice measuring spring animals, insects, kites, garden fences, house plants, spring objects and more using any form of manipulative including snap cubes, mini erasers, paper clips, standard rulers to measure in centimeters and inches or use any of the fun thematic rulers provided in the resource.

Worksheets include:-

1 - Measure the spring animals – color in the cubes to find the height of each animal.

2 – Measure the spring objects – color in the cubes to find the height of each object.

3 – Spring Measurement – color the cubes to find the width/length of each animal/object.

4 – Spring Measurement II – color the cubes to find the width/length of each animal/object.

5 – Measuring Lengths – Students measure the length of each garden fence using snap cubes or you can use the fun rules provided in the resource. Alternatively you can use any choice of manipulative to use as a measuring tool.

6 – Measuring Lengths of cube stacks – students number the boxes from 1 to 3 to order the cube stacks from shortest to longest and draw a line the length that is stated eg Draw a line that is 4 cubes long.

7 – Short and Tall – color the object that is shorter in yellow and the taller object in green.

8 – Short and Tall – students are required to draw an animal/object that is either longer or shorter than the given objects/animals.

9 – Shortest to Tallest – students cut out the kites and birdhouses and order them from shortest to tallest and tallest to shortest.

10 – Measurement Comparisons - This worksheet comes in 3 versions to help you differentiate for your students :-

a) Measure and Graph – students measure the height of each house plant and graph the results.

b) Measurement Comparison – students measure the height of each house plant and answer the questions by coloring in the answer.

c) Measurement Comparison – students measure the height of each house plant and answer the questions by writing the answer.

11. Measure the Room – This exercise comes in 3 different versions to help differentiate for your students :-

a) Students find the objects given around their classroom and measure each object using your chosen measurement tool. They record their estimate and actual answers in the table.

b) Students are required to find some objects around their classroom to measure using your chosen measurement tool. They draw the object in the box and record their estimate and actual answer.

c) Students are required to find some objects around their classroom to measure using your chosen measurement tool. They fill in the answers in the given table.

This spring measurement activity will help students review measuring lengths and heights using fun spring graphics. It is perfect for small groups, in centers, with a partner and more!

12 Instruction Cards

You will need:

2-4 players (can be played individually also)

A board game, a set of measuring cards and a set of instruction cards.

A token or place marker for each player

Measuring tool of choice, one for each player (2cm snap cubes, ruler, any small manipulative that is about the size of a 2cm snap cube. Essentially we made this game to be played using 2cm snap cubes or you can use the fun thematic rulers provided in the document!

Directions: Students take a turn taking a measuring card from the deck. Then they will measure the item on the card using their given measurement tool. If the item on the card is 3 cubes long, then they move 3 spaces and so on. The first player to land on FINISH is the winner. If you land on a flower, they pick up a card and follow the instructions. Instructions include for example Move Forward 1 Space, Lose a turn etc.

Fun Measuring Rulers – A page of colored and black and white measuring rules have been provided. Print as many copies as you need so that each student gets a ruler.
