Description
**This packet is part of the Kindergarten Seasonal or Holiday Math Centers by Common Core Domain**
FLASH DEAL: Tuesday and Wednesday- $1, Thursday- 2, Friday- $3
Celebrate Spring and Easter in your kindergarten classroom this year while teaching your students about decomposing numbers within 10 and number fluency within 5. This product contains various printable resources to teach students the basics of number decomposition within 10 (with a focus on making ten). Students will understand that numbers can be broken down into smaller amounts. Students will also understand that there are many ways to break apart numbers. The printable resources in this file are great for direct instruction, giving students mathematical tasks to solve, or small group practice work. Print on colored or white paper with black and white ink or use a colored printer. Laminating is optional.
Introduce students to number decomposition by allowing them to explore multiple word problems asking them to find different combinations of a number. Have students use counters, pictures, or other manipulatives to solve the problems. Allow students to share their thinking and learn strategies from their peers.
The resources included in this packet contains printables for you to teach HALF of your Operations & Algebraic Thinking Unit- I will come out with the other half in the Summer Math Packet, so be sure to check out my growing bundle!. Use the resources in your mini-lesson, center activities, collaborative tasks, and guided group instruction. This resource contains activities to use at the concrete, pictoral, and abstract level of understanding for students.
Standards:
K.OA.A.3 Decompose numbers less than or equal to 10 into pairs in more than one way, e.g., by using objects or drawings, and record each decomposition by a drawing or equation (e.g., 5 = 2 + 3 and 5 = 4 + 1).
K.OA.A.4 For any number from 1 to 9, find the number that makes 10 when added to the given number, e.g., by using objects or drawings, and record the answer with a drawing or equation.
K.OA.A.5 Fluently add and subtract within 5.
