This spring pattern blocks mats are the perfect themed math center for your kindergarten classroom. Easy prep math center activity where students create a picture using pattern blocks and then count how many of each shape are in the picture. Includes 10 different puzzles that are to scale (tulip, bee, bird, blossom, birdhouse, bug, flower, raindrop, watering can and umbrella). Also includes small task cards of the same picture that are not to scale.

5 different versions of the activity to allow for differentiation for each of the 10 templates:

  • students can build on the to scale mats and trace the word colors pattern blocks for students to match,
  • partner activity where students roll and dice and build the picture
  • printable roll and color version
  • black and white,
  • no lines to challenge students to find their own pattern blocks to create the pictures.

Also includes a recording sheet.

Understand that the last number name said tells the number of objects counted. The number of objects is the same regardless of their arrangement or the order in which they were counted.
Count to answer “how many?” questions about as many as 20 things arranged in a line, a rectangular array, or a circle, or as many as 10 things in a scattered configuration; given a number from 1-20, count out that many objects.
Correctly name shapes regardless of their orientations or overall size.
