Description
Four great brain teasers to help your students develop critical thinking skills! Great for bell-ringers, transitions, extensions, or even as a part of sub plans! Three logic puzzles use basic math clues so they are accessible by any student - the focus is on the thinking - and the cryptogram is a fun way to decipher a quote about springtime.
The "Easel Activity" has been created for you - NO PREP - just assign. All of the answer boxes have been created for you and your students! If you find that your students would rather do the solving on paper but you are teaching remotely, have them solve the puzzles on their own scrap paper and then use the digital activity to turn in their answers. Easy-Peasy!
Four puzzles:
- Tulips: asks students to determine the number and color of tulips six students planted.
- Easter Egg I: asks students to determine the number of pieces of chocolate found and the color of the egg the chocolate was in.
- Easter Egg II: throws in a little algebraic thinking by asking students to determine the number and color of eggs but having some of the clues be about the number of jellybeans inside the eggs.
- Cryptogram: students use the clues given and their logic skills to determine the secret message.
These puzzles are great to have on hand in the spring when the days are getting longer and attention spans are getting shorter! My students love these puzzles and always ask me to make more. I love how it keeps them engaged in something fun that is also challenging and good for their brains. :)
The preview shows you all four puzzles; the purchased file also includes a version of the logic puzzles with blank space instead of a grid in case you or your students want to use a different method to solve the puzzles. I also include a guide to solving the puzzles via the process of elimination in the purchased file.
