Target spatial concepts in a fun, engaging, spring-themed way! This Spring Spatial Concepts activity helps students build receptive and expressive understanding of common prepositions while answering “Where” questions using structured visual supports.

Perfect for speech therapy sessions, small groups, centers, RTI support, or independent practice.

📦 What’s Included:

  • 16 spring-themed task cards
  • 2 cards each for: on, in, next to, under, above, between, in front of, behind
  • Each card includes:
    • A colorful spring scene
    • A “Where” question
    • 3 phrase answer choices

Print and laminate for reusable task cards or use digitally for teletherapy.

🧠 Skills Targeted:

  • Spatial / prepositional concepts
  • Receptive language comprehension
  • Expressive language development
  • Answering WH-questions
  • Sentence expansion
  • Describing location using complete sentences

👩‍🏫 How to Use:

Students examine the spring picture and select the correct phrase to answer the question. Responses can be spoken, pointed to, written, or produced using AAC.

Encourage full sentence responses when appropriate (e.g., “The girl is in front of the basket.”).

For increased difficulty:

  • Cover answer choices and have students describe the location independently.
  • Compare two cards and discuss how changing the preposition changes the meaning.

This activity is low-prep, engaging, and perfect for building foundational language skills during the spring season!
