Description

This is a Reading Log for the Spring Holiday Break (a.k.a. Spring Break). I designed it to encourage my students to read — especially the reluctant readers — by keeping up the momentum we established in the regular school year. This is a fully editable Google Document, so that you can tailor it to suit your own purposes and taste. I use a similar one over the Winter Break / Christmas Vacation, as well.

What I have included on this reading log is...

  • a place for them to put their name and the book they are reading.
  • colour a bookworm;
  • reflect and express how they are feeling about reading and/or what they are reading each day by drawing in an emoticon representation;
  • placing a sticker (that teacher or parents can provide) for each day they read 15 minutes (or whatever you set);
  • for every five stickers they get to claim a prize (I usually have parents get pencils, erasers, wordsearch books, coloured pens, and anything else I find at the dollar store so students can claim their rewards while on holidays [as I find timely rewards more successful]; otherwise, I also have a teacher-prize-stash for any students who did not get the rewards at home). (Should that not suit your desire, simply delete that line from Page One and this resource becomes intrinsic-only reward-based.)
