Description

Phoneme segmentation is an important skill for your little blossoms to practice. Spring into Phoneme Segmentation! provides an opportunity for your class to segment and count sounds in 2, 3, 4 and 5 phoneme words in a fun, hands on way.

Easy to prepare (just print, laminate and slice!) this resource comes with 2 worksheets for students to 'show what they know'. One requires cutting and pasting to sort words by the number of phonemes, while students write numbers on the other.

2 phonemes – bee, pear, bow, two, egg, key, eight, tie
3 phonemes – sun, book, sheep, bird, house, dog, mouse, kite
4 phonemes – igloo, cloud, frog, yoyo, puzzle, crab, socks, lamp
5 phonemes – monkey, cherries, bubbles, robot, grapes, plant, carrot, clowns
(For my US friends, you might count the word pear as having 3 phonemes. With the Australian accent this word has 2 - p/ear. This will not affect the way you use this resource. :)

Have fun!
