Description
Celebrate the spring season and make practicing customary unit conversions fun with this 3-D carrot craftivity. Six different versions give you the option to assign one or multiple carrots per student. After completing their conversions, students will cut, color, and assemble their 3-D carrots for display around the classroom.
Should I really use coloring and craftivities in my upper elementary/middle school math class? Yes! Here’s why…
1. Coloring activities provide the teacher with a way to quickly assess student understanding. When circulating the room checking in on students, it is easy to see if someone’s picture is looking off, alerting you that they may need some assistance.
2. Students are more likely to stay on task versus completing a traditional worksheet because they want to see how it turns out. It also gives them an opportunity to express themselves artistically. Even though the majority of the picture is going to be the same for each student, I love seeing how individual students put their own creative touches on the craftivity.
3. Upper elementary/middle school students still love seeing their work displayed! Students feel a sense of pride and accomplishment when their work is displayed, and most importantly, they feel valued.
Included:
6 different versions of the carrot worksheet (12 questions per worksheet).
Answer Keys
Directions (with pictures) for proper assembly
