I used these notes in BC Math 8 and was happy with them. Some of the topics are a bit higher level than the curriculum for this class but I can use them in other classes in the future.
This is a great resource to help teach students to find square roots.
Great lesson for students to really engage in. The blank space to the left was a great area to make extra notes about how squaring relates to a square and other additional notes I wanted my students to take.
My students loved this activity. They were able to be assessed on the topic and be engaged in the process. It was an extension of their learning and I enjoyed seeing their excitement.
Very engaged with the students and helped introduce the concepts for each square and cube (roots)
Thank you for these notes and interactive practice. It was a great way to introduce squares, cubes, and roots.
Great way for students to practice this skill
Loved it.

CCSS8.NS.A.2
Use rational approximations of irrational numbers to compare the size of irrational numbers, locate them approximately on a number line diagram, and estimate the value of expressions (e.g., π²). For example, by truncating the decimal expansion of √2, show that √2 is between 1 and 2, then between 1.4 and 1.5, and explain how to continue on to get better approximations.
CCSS8.EE.A.2
Use square root and cube root symbols to represent solutions to equations of the form 𝘹² = 𝘱 and 𝘹³ = 𝘱, where 𝘱 is a positive rational number. Evaluate square roots of small perfect squares and cube roots of small perfect cubes. Know that √2 is irrational.
