Are you looking for a fun and engaging math activity to celebrate St Patrick's Day? This St Patrick's Day themed math investigation will have your students applying their math skills to real life scenarios as they become junior detectives to solve the crime.
Students are faced with a terrible crime! A leprechaun has stolen all of the gold from the end of the rainbow. Your students will have to work their way through the clues to find the Leprechaun Thief.
Your students will need to apply the following skills:
☘ Fractions - Calculate a fraction of a total amount
☘ Time - Calculate length of time elapsed
☘ Measurement - Calculate perimeter
☘ Money - Adding money amounts
☘ Place Value - Identify ones, tens, hundreds, and thousands
The following are included in this fun math pack:
☘ Clue books - Two versions are included to allow for differentiation
☘ Detectives Notebook - Students can record their thinking in their own Detectives Notebook
☘ Teacher Notes - Detailed instructions for using this fun activity in your classroom

☘ Optional writing task
☘ Optional extension task for early finishers
While solving this crime, your students will be practicing various math skills including fractions, time, measurement, money, and place value. As this investigation is so much fun, your students won't even realize they're learning!
