St Patrick's Day Math Area Perimeter and Money
The Investigation
You are the owner of an Irish shop. Each year you grow giant shamrocks to sell to the public. In this investigation, your main objectives will be to:
Find the area and perimeter of your field;
Find out how much money you will get if you sold every shamrock and;
Work out the change from sales.
Suggestions:
You could work in a group and present your findings in poster form.
You could work individually and create a PowerPoint presentation of your findings.
Activity 1: beginner area, perimeter and money problems with whole numbers
Activity 2: intermediate area, perimeter and money problems with decimal multiplication and addition
Activity 3: advanced area, perimeter and money problems with finding profits, decimal multiplication, subtraction and addition.
