Description

Get students excited for Saint Patrick's Day while reviewing math standards that students need to master for third. This Saint Patrick's Day math task has students help their teacher set up leprechaun traps throughout the school. Within this math task students will build upon each problem and use their skills in: addition, division, solving multi-step word problems, area and perimeter, two-dimensional shapes, comparing fractions, and elapsed time by creating a schedule for the class. Although this task uses mostly third grade standards, it also will be useful for fourth and fifth grade students in order to prepare them for the end of the year statewide tests. It may also be used for second grade students as a way to challenge them in a fun and engaging way.
