Share

Description

Prepare your music classroom for St. Patrick's Day by downloading this bundle of resources featuring a lesson on Irish music, and a game of Bop or Flop featuring Celtic music!

Celtic Bop or Flop

This resource features 14 songs Celtic songs. Great for all ages as a brain break or an addition to a lesson!

How to play Bop or Flop:

  • Designate one side of your classroom to be the "bop" side, and the other side of your classroom to be the "flop" side. The "bop" side will be used when students enjoy the song, and the "flop" side will be used when students do not enjoy the song.
  • Play a portion of the song (recommended at least 15-30 seconds) while students are sitting in the center of the room or in any neutral location.
  • Once the song is done, students move to either the "bop" side or the "flop" side of the room. Students must be sitting in order for their vote to count!
  • Have a few students from each side give their reasoning for their decision. I always us this opportunity to talk about how everyone has different opinions, and that's okay!

Music of Ireland:

Included in this product is a slideshow on Google Slides containing:

  • Pictures, videos, and facts about nine instruments commonly used in Irish/Celtic music.
  • Two videos of Irish step dancing; one shorter and of two people, and one longer and of a large group.
  • One video teaching students a few basic Irish step dancing steps.

This lesson takes about fifty minutes to complete so I like to split it across two days and add in some scarf routines, Celtic musical chairs, and freeze dance!
