Description

This all inclusive resource has 40 task cards that develop student’s math sense and addition fact knowledge. These task cards will take them from the most basic addition facts that involve adding 0 and 1 to other numbers as well as using critical thinking with both the commutative and associative properties of addition. We have nicknames for those big words (like, instead of saying commutative we say “switcheroos”); however, we do introduce the students to the proper terms that mathematicians use, and if they’d rather speak like the math experts , that’s fine too. The point is, we’d rather have the students get a good understanding for the math they’re doing rather than focus on the terms and definitions too much.

The 40 task cards are spring themed and fun to do. The St. Patrick’s Day and spring related picture clues guide the students in finding the sums. Eventually, some of the picture clues are taken away.

This resource is a dream come true for teachers and tutors alike.

The task cards are divided into sets: +0, +1, sums to 10, doubles, doubles+1, and switcheroos. Each set comes with an anchor chart for the concept being practiced on the task cards. Teachers could use the anchor charts for math talks or develop a mini lesson around the information on the charts. Great for introducing math centers too! Perfect for independent work! Each set of task cards also comes with answer sheets and assessments. If you don't want to use answer sheets, you could laminate the task cards to be used as write and wipe cards.

Another nice aspect of this resource is that the content taught is completely controlled by the teacher. Due to the organization of the cards (concept per set), you can decide the order in which you would like to teach these or just pick out the ones needed for special needs, etc.
