Description

State report season just got a whole lot more exciting. This lift-a-flap state report turns what could be a routine research project into something kids actually look forward to.

They research their assigned state, fill in their flaps, assemble everything together, and end up with an interactive display piece they can't wait to show off. It's engaging, it's hands-on, and it makes state research feel like so much more than just filling in a worksheet.

Students research everything about their state:

  • Popular name
  • Capital
  • State symbols
  • State motto
  • Government
  • Population
  • Climate
  • Geography
  • Agriculture
  • Manufacturing
  • Natural resources
  • Famous people
  • Interesting facts

The final project tells a complete and compelling story of their state!

The finished report fits perfectly inside a 12x18 inch sheet of construction paper, which makes it great for bulletin boards and hallway displays!

📋 What's included:

  • Research organizer to guide students through the process
  • 50 individual state covers, one for every US state
  • 15 unique flaps covering every state research topic
  • Step-by-step assembly directions
  • Hyperlinks to FREE online research websites
  • Bibliography page
  • Two rubrics
  • Constructed response question

Each state cover includes the name of the state in outline letters, a line for the state's popular name, a US map for shading, and an outline map of that individual state. Each cover is saved as its own PDF file for easy printing. Prefer a simpler option? There's a blank cover too so students can write in their state and draw their own map.

This works beautifully as a social studies research project, a state report unit, or a geography research activity for upper elementary students.
