Description
Get your kids ready to score proficient and advanced in three areas with the State Testing Practice Pack. These three practice lessons are an advanced challenge for 4th grade and appropriate all the way up through 8th but best targeted to 5th and 6th graders. No matter what grade you use them for, they’ll have your kids thinking and responding beyond literal comprehension.
In How do you Feel About Colors?, students read a nonfiction piece about the symbolism of colors and respond with a short, constructed expository response. This lesson also comes with a sample advanced response for class discussion.
In the poetry practice, you get a poem with copyright privileges, multiple choice practice addressed to some potential problem areas of understanding the nuts and bolts of poetry, a response grid concerning word choice and imagery commonly found in state tests, and a short, constructed response which requires students to respond with a strong inference. You also get four sample responses—unsatisfactory through advanced—and an answer key.
In Fluking Whale, students are presented with a math story problem in which they are required to graphically represent mathematical thinking. You’ll also get a sample advanced response and suggested scoring guide.
The preview shows a sample response for each of the three lessons. Keep in mind you’ll get much more with your purchase.
If you are interested in one or two of the three practice areas, they may be purchased separated at the Portable Gifted and Talented store. You get a buy two, get one free with this full package.
