Description

Perfect for test or exam review, this set includes 12 applied statistical literacy task cards and 4 blank cards. A recording sheet and answer guide are also included. Each card is individually coded, making it easy to quickly gauge topic and level, particularly if you are combining these with other task cards in the series. Difficulty levels range from Level 1 - Very Easy, to Level 4 - Challenging.

Concepts addressed in this activity:

  • Identifying bias in information, questions and responses;
  • Measures of central tendency;
  • Percentile and quartile;
  • Random and non-random sampling techniques;
  • Percent change;
  • Statistical Indices.

Originally created for Ontario's MAP4C course, this set of questions is suitable for students working towards applying statistics to real-world situations, such as surveys, media reports, distribution charts, and data analysis. * Please see the preview file to make sure this product is right for you and your students *

This set is also available as part of a bundle: Statistics and Data Management Task Cards

Suggestions for Use:

Jenga-style review: combine with 3 other units, for a total of 48 questions. Assign each block in a tumbling-tower type game a question code. Students must complete the question on the block selected before re-positioning it at the top of the tower. Teams race for the top!

Structure building challenge: use 1 or several units. Assign a value in marshmallows and spaghetti for each difficulty level. Alternately, use a dollar-store ball and stick (or similar) building toy. Teams earn building materials by correctly answering questions. The team with the tallest tower/strongest structure wins!

Laminating and/or printing on card stock helps to keep the cards in good shape for repeated use. Consider laminating the tracking sheet and having the students record their work with whiteboard markers.

Units in this Series:

Trigonometry

Geometry

Graphical Models

Algebraic Models

Data Management

Statistical Literacy

Mortgages and Annuities

Budgeting

Excellent product. Totally worth it. The instructions are very clear. There are different levels of difficulty and there's a code on each card indicating it's difficulty level (I love that part). There are even blank cards so that you can add your own questions. The questions are perfect for my statistics class or a statistics unit in, say, an Algebra 2 class.

This is so useful! You can use it in several different ways with a math class. That makes it valuable as well. Every math teacher needs to purchase a copy for their files. Thanks.
