It is in support of 6th grade math Common Core standard CCSS.Math.Content.6.SP.A.1 under the domain of Statistics and Probability. The presentation includes a suggested student-pairing activity at the end to give students practice with what they learned. The time length of the presentation depends on how much you include your students participation in the lesson. Teachers should go through the slides alone first to determine stopping points and points of emphasis. Recognize a statistical question as one that anticipates variability in the data related to the question and accounts for it in the answers. For example, “How old am I?” is not a statistical question, but “How old are the students in my school?” is a statistical question because one anticipates variability in students’ ages.
