Description

These task cards are perfect for helping students practice identifying, writing, and understanding statistical questions. They are especially useful for introducing your statistics unit in your class!

Included is an answer key (keep in mind that some of the questions lend themselves to varying answers) and a student work page. The product now includes both a color and black & white version to allow you to choose what is best for your needs.

I use this to support CCSS 6.SP.1 in my classroom.

Task cards are great for Scoot, active learning, extra practice, intervention, resource, review, small group work, centers, whole class instruction, or any type of class competition. You and your students have many options for making these fun! I like to put them around the classroom and give students time to move around the room to solve each problem. It gives them the practice they need while giving them an opportunity to get up and move around.

This activity is aligned with the standard on statistical questioning. The activity provides questions in which the students can understand. The student determines if it is statistical or not.

Recognize a statistical question as one that anticipates variability in the data related to the question and accounts for it in the answers. For example, “How old am I?” is not a statistical question, but “How old are the students in my school?” is a statistical question because one anticipates variability in students’ ages.
