Statistics - Normal Distribution Maze
Share

Description

Is the normal distribution confusing to your students? Do they forget what formula to use for the different types of situations?

Because I know mine do!

I created this review maze for students to complete at the end of our normal distribution unit. The problems included involve:

* calculating the z score given the mean, standard deviation, and raw score

* calculating the area or probability under the standard normal curve for given situations

* using the area or probability under the standard normal curve to calculate the z score

* using a sample size along with a standard normal distribution to find a probability

This activity will help your students gain practice mixing all of these situations into one maze.

to see state-specific standards (only available in the US).
Develop a probability distribution for a random variable defined for a sample space in which probabilities are assigned empirically; find the expected value. For example, find a current data distribution on the number of TV sets per household in the United States, and calculate the expected number of sets per household. How many TV sets would you expect to find in 100 randomly selected households?
Analyze decisions and strategies using probability concepts (e.g., product testing, medical testing, pulling a hockey goalie at the end of a game).
