Statistics Probability Report Project
Share

Description

In this document, you'll find detailed instructions and grading rubrics for a probability based project which includes the design and creation of a unique game, the testing of that game, and the calculation of various probabilities resulting from the game. This is a google doc that will be added to your google drive when you purchase and will be fully editable to customize to your classroom needs. Students will: 1. learn to write an abstract, 2. create and write instructions for a unique game, 3. establish materials needed to play, 4. calculate classical probabilities before playing the game, 5. calculate empirical probabilities after playing the game, 5 number summary, and 6. analyze similarities and differences between the types of probabilities.

This project has been specifically organized and formatted to match chapter 4 of Bluman Statistics, but can be adapted to any elementary statistics textbook, or another mathematics class working on probability. I usually introduce this at the beginning of second quarter and designate one day a week to work in class throughout the entire quarter.

My mistake, I just paid $5 for a fancy rubric. It is one page (yes, I should have noticed that) with a lot of writing about requirements and point values.
