Description

This project is an excellent review of Algebra 1 statistics. I do, however, also give this to my students in Algebra 2 after we review the material. I do this in order to make sure they really understand these concepts before moving on to more advanced statistics.

This activity requires students to use data on the Hunger Game tributes to make a decision on who would win the game (if you did not already know!) Students must create a histogram, box plot and a bar graph or pie chart with the data. Students must then analyze their graphical displays to answer questions and to support their argument.

I also provide you with an example student project to show students what is expected of them.

Included:
-Teacher Resource page with teaching suggestions (1 page)
-Student Worksheet including data on tributes (2 pages)
-Project Rubric on a 100 point scale (1 pages)
-Example sample project (2 pages)

Fantastic resource for Algebra 1 after the Statistics Unit. I wanted an activity to share with parents at open house. I had them build each data display on a large poster. This was great.

My students loved this activity. They were so excited when I gave it to them. I changed the imperial measurements to metric for my class, but otherwise, it is a great 'ready to go' resource.
