Description

This packet contains steps to solving word problems. I based it on our Go Math! book at school, but it can be applied to all math word problems at the elementary level. It has been a lifesaver in helping my students learn to solve word problems!

Steps to Problem Solving

1. I read the problem.
2. What do I need to find out?
3. What information can I use?
4. How do I use this information to solve the problem?

Show Your Work

1. Pictures
2. Numbers
3. Words

Included you will find posters with each step. You can hang them individually, or connect them with a ribbon to match the colors. I have also included smaller versions for those who don’t have as much available space. Next, you will find 2 ink-saving versions, followed by smaller versions that could be used for student math journals
