Sticky Note Long Division Strategy
Share

Description

This is a strategy that I learned about awhile ago, but needed some way to explain it to parents so that they can use the same strategy at home. Students can keep this handout in their math journals to reference and it's also a nice go-to for classroom teachers who may have not heard of this strategy before! The strategy really helps kids go one step at a time and line up their numbers as the move through long division equations using the standard algorithm.

I have always used this strategy when teaching long division with the standard algorithm. I've always looked for a way to communicate this strategy to parents and this was PERFECT! I sent this home to parents as a guide for them to help their children follow the correct steps when completing HW.
