Description

In this new world of distance learning, we have to get creative to inspire student writing. This unit uses Play and FlipGrid to inspire story writing. Before doing any writing, students use their toys at home to create stories that they share with their peers. Students work on the craft of storytelling before they do any actual writing, through a series of lessons.

Once students have developed a series of stories, they choose their best one to draft, revise, edit and publish.

This resource includes:

  • Link to information to set up FlipGrid in your classroom
  • A complete teacher guide for how to implement this in your classroom
  • Digital PDF Posters to share with your class on any platform.
  • Student worksheet for planning out their stories.

Lessons in this product includes:

  • Introduction to telling stories
  • Who are Protagonists and Antagonists?
  • Using Story Strips to plan stories
  • The Writing Process
  • How to Revise Writing
  • Proper Paragraphing and Using Quotations in story writing

***This unit is perfect for working on the skill of Oral Storytelling, part of the BC Language Arts Curriculum.***

This was perfect for my distance-learners as it was visual and engaging, providing a visual storyline for which they wrote content. Thanks!
