This lesson plan introduces line graphs to students. Perfect for the grade 9 linear relations unit. A great way to incorporate storytelling into 9th grade math! The line graphs included show data collected from the real life Challenger disaster.

I recommend starting the lesson by showing a clip of the Challenger takeoff on Youtube. This lesson plan includes a story about that day, as well as discussion points and a question for students to work on. Teachers can drive home the importance of graphing and data analysis with these graphs and this real, very serious example.

This is not designed to take the whole class, it is just an introduction. It may only take around 20 minutes.
