Looking for a formative assessment tool? This self reflective evaluation allows students to meaningfully reflect on their learning experience and if you add teacher feedback becomes powerful assessment for learning! It can be used alone or with other forms of self-evaluation or assessment. The sentence stems are EDITABLE in Google Slides.
More and more research is coming out that self reflection is one of the MOST valuable moments of the learning process. I have made an active effort to make more time and space for self reflection, that is reflection without assessment. I have also used these templates with students and then got them to meet in small discussion groups for 5 minutes to share their own self reflection on their learning. I have done this with great success when finishing a large in class writing piece like an essay or critical paragraph.
This self reflection template differentiates the writing process by offering students 3 choices: they can either write on regular lined paper, on blank paper or follow a letter format that is set up on the space. In addition, the sentence stems are incredibly helpful to support students as they communicate where they are at and where they going next.
This resource now includes 3 additional templates with a space for teacher feedback.

Printing Hacks & FYI - To maximize the usable space my resources often go beyond standard margins. Most commercial printers will print beyond these margins no problem - I advise printing this resource on a large commercial printer rather than from a personal home printer.
- The small details & lines turn out more crisp & clear when printed directly from the file. They have a tendency to get blurry & misaligned when photocopied.
- Make sure printer dialogue box make sure the scale is set to "fit to page"
- Open the PDF in a PDF reader then print. Do not print directly from a browser.
