Description

Do your students have trouble recognizing visual number representations? Do they count every one of their fingers even when they know that there are five on one hand? Then your learners need to work on their subitizing skills.

Subitizing is a skill that was first introduced by the Swiss psychologist Piaget. It is the ability to look at a group of objects and realize how many there are without counting.

These flash cards will help your learners gain the ability to automatically recognize numbers one through ten.

This product includes six sets for visual number representations:

  • Set One : Fingers
  • Set Two: Ten Frames
  • Set Three: Dice
  • Set Four: Dominoes
  • Set Five: Tallies
  • Set Six : Butterflies

How can you use these flash cards?

1. Use the flash cards as part of a teacher led center. Quickly show the card and ask students to say the number. Then turn the card and show the numeral to support the link between the number of objects and numeral.

2. For a student led center print the cards one sided. Learners will place the cards facing down and try to flip over the number representation and numeral as a memory game.

3. Use the flash cards at the start of your Math lesson for a quick and fun warm up. Show the number representations and ask learners to shout out the count. Alternatively show learners the number and ask them to show it with their fingers or by drawing ( dots, lines, shapes ).
