Description

I absolutely love projects that provide students with authentic learning opportunities and this one is one of my favourites.

This project asks students to build a submarine that will allow them to search an ocean zone of their choice. Clear visuals give students direction but they have enough choice to become fully engaged. Once they have spent their budget, they are asked to think critically about what they spent their money on, as well as answer a series of math questions related to what they have learned.

Ocean zones, budgeting, multiplication, addition, subtraction, word problems are all areas of focus in this highly engaging product that former students will still come and talk to me about!

Give your students a chance to dive into learning!

I used this after reading 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea to my children. Both my children (3rd and 5th) absolutely loved this project. So much fun. There was a page where I'm pretty sure the math was wrong but otherwise amazing math fun! Thanks
