Description

This Super Mario-themed math lesson features Luigi as he guides students through the simple functions of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

Students will be given five vocabulary words (equals, plus, minus, times, and divided by), practice some simple math equations, and then play a game of 24 (more details in the notes section of the PowerPoint).

The key focus of the lesson is to get students to use the phrases "# times # equals" for each of the math functions.

There is an accompanying worksheet to this lesson.

Bonus: For added fun during the game, the students can "putt for points" and earn bonus points that way. The teacher may need to prepare a kids' toy putter set, or have students use paper and their legs to "putt" into a container for bonus points.
