Description
Use with your weekly spelling lists. Student will write spelling words and then write them in "code". This can be used as an independent word work or literacy center or used as a whole group activity when shown on the document camera. You can also have students write the words in code and give to another student to solve the code. Also GREAT for sub plans!

Fun Coded Alphabet for Classroom Games!
I used this resource as part of a math escape room, and it was a hit! Although it’s called “Spelling,” it actually works more as a coded alphabet—perfect for adding a layer of mystery and engagement to any activity. My students had a blast cracking the codes, and it tied in beautifully with the escape room format. Easy to adapt and a fun way to sneak in critical thinking!
I used this as morning work to review codes and the students enjoyed the activity and then were ecouraged to make up their own secret codes.
This was a fun way to practice spelling words! They thought they were pretty sneaky!
My student does not enjoy writing his letters and he loved this activity. We have used it to send letters to family members and they write back. I'm all for finding fun ways to get a pencil in his hand and work on his pre-writing/writing skills!
