Description
These special education worksheets are part of a functional math special education curriculum that covers in and out function machines and function tables. They are based on state-extended learning standards.
What is Super Simple?
- Super simple indicates that it is intended for students working at an elementary level and need maximum support.
- Problems are simplified.
- Pictures are used throughout.
- Intended for students in self-contained settings.
- Printable and digital activities for more practice.
The first unit covers function machines. Students will learn:
- What is the output of the machine
- What is the input of the machine
- What is the function rule of the machine
The second unit covers similar information but uses a table format.
- Identify parts of a function table
- Identify the output values in the table
- Identify the input values in the table
- Fill in the missing outputs in the table
Use pictures and numbers. Uses real-world examples.
Students have many opportunities to engage in repeated information on what a function machine does, reading and understanding function tables, and the relationship between inputs and outputs. This repetition helps students connect to this important and often abstract information.
The activities come in 2 versions:
- Cut and paste the answers
- Circle the correct answers
In addition, many of the activities and assessments include differentiated versions.

Much of what I have learned about curriculum development is incorporated in these units. For example, do not be afraid of repetition. It is critical that students with significant disabilities get to experience material over several days to be able to fully assimilate what is being taught. Also, adding visual supports to your printables and class activities helps students be able to pay more attention to the content you are presenting rather than the mechanics of what is expected. Finally, ask questions. Good questions!! Regardless of the material, if we can ask students good questions it will push them to think more deeply than before.
♥As always please take a moment to leave feedback or post any questions you may have. Remember, you will gain credit toward future purchases on tpt as you leave more and more feedback!!
♥I am currently developing more units, and any feedback I get helps me make improvements in the future. Plus, it just means a lot to me.
