Estimating and Graphing Sweethearts Candy

This is a great Valentine's Day activity!

Give each student a box or cupful of Sweethearts Candy to sort, graph, and analyze the data.

Use these No PREP templates to create an academic-focused Valentine's Day project!

Students will love that it involves candy and you will love that it involves math!

This file includes:

  • Estimations/Results Worksheet
  • 4 graphing templates - differentiated questioning - one geared towards younger grades and one geared towards older grades with more analytical questions.
  • Graphing templates suited for bar graphs, picture graphs, and line plots.
  • Sweethearts cut-outs for picture graphs

Download, Print, & Ready-to-go.

This resource includes differentiated graphs. The blank graphs can be used to make picture graphs, line plots, and more. Two bar graph templates are also included. Start the lesson with estimations. Before passing out the candy, have students estimate how many candy hearts will be in their box. Use the estimations page to mark their estimations. Then choose a graphing template for students to practice graphing and analyzing data. Have students create different graphs to represent their results.
