This activity helps to reinforce the symbol pictures used in the week 7 curriculum and in the "The Pet Shop" book specifically. This activity can satisfy the IEP goal of vocabulary development. There are two versions of the activity included so students cannot memorize the activity. This item is typically used during the Monday communication group after the picture reader "The Pet Shop" is read to students. This expands the original time spent reading the book by another 15 minutes. It can also be used during the week to keep the vocabulary fresh for student learning. Vocabulary introduced include: BIRD, CAT, DOG, FROG, MONSTER, SITS, and WITCH.
