Description

Students tend to overuse certain words a lot. My students love French Fry Synonyms but still need a lot more practice with synonyms. Students will match synonyms to complete three-piece puzzles. This is the perfect activity for students who aren’t quite ready for the more advanced vocabulary of the French Fry Synonyms activity. The activity is an ideal center activity, and the recording sheet allows you to check students’ work later.

To prepare this activity, I recommend printing on cardstock and then laminating the puzzle pages before cutting out the pieces. Cold lamination is my preferred method, as it never peels, even after you cut through it. After laminating, cut the puzzle pieces apart. Give each student or group of students a set to complete. Another trick I’ve learned through the years is to print each set of puzzles on a different color of cardstock. This makes returning lost pieces found on the floor to the correct set easier.
