Description

How do you help students resolve conflicts in the classroom? Talk It Out is an easy solution that helps kids take responsibility in their peer relationships. It is such a helpful strategy for social emotional learning and the development of a positive classroom community!

This file includes the steps of Talk It Out, as well as a script students can use when resolving their conflicts.

There are four reference sheets in this file:

1) The steps and the script

2) Only the steps

3) Just the script, referring to students as Speaker 1 and Speaker 2

4) Just the script, with blanks to fill in the names of Speaker 1 and Speaker 2

In my classroom, I've laminated the script and put it on a clipboard. While talking it out, both students have a clipboard with the script in front of them.

You also could print the script onto cardstock in a smaller size and glue it onto popsicle sticks for an easy handheld option. A third option would be printing the steps and the script in a smaller size to put in a frames at each student table.

NOTE: Let me know if there are any adjustments you need me to make to this file to make it a better fit for your students and classroom!

This resource has been great for teaching my students how to communicate with each other when they have a disagreement, some students don't have the words and this helps tremendously.

Student use this for independent conflict resolution. Have not had to use it often, but students are able to do this independently which is very nice. Thank you.
