Description
These printable task cards on Average Speed, Distance, and Time are a fun alternative to physics problem set. They contain 20 speed, distance, and time problems with answers. Task cards encourage students to collaborate with their partner, group, and class! I have included a blank recording sheet and a self-checking recording sheet with an answer bank.
Only the last five questions require unit conversions. I have also included two cards on the difference between instantaneous speed and average speed.
This was designed for my Conceptual Physics Class, but I have used it in both 8th Grade Science (by giving students three separate equations for speed, distance, and time) and Pre-AP Physics (by making students rearrange the equation for speed algebraically).

✩ HOW THIS ASSIGNMENT WORKS ✩
- Students can solve the questions on the cards and record their work and answer on the attached recording document or in the notebooks.
- To make this activity self-checking, students can be given the Answer Bank version. This frees up time for you to help individual students.
✩ WHAT STUDENTS NEED TO KNOW BEFORE THEY BEGIN ✩
- How to solve for speed, distance, and time.
- Students can be taught three equations or as one.
- For the last 5 cards, students need to be able to convert units. This can be part of the lesson or saved as a challenge for students who finish the first 15 cards.
✩ Easy Steps to Take AFTER Purchasing ✩
- Download the file.
- Print out the task cards for as many groups as you would like.
- Print out the recording document of your choice or have students record their answers in their notebooks.
