Description
This interactive workbook guides students through the process of understanding different types of verbs in general and Hebrew verbs in particular. Students who are ready can try to complete the packet alone as independent work. It also works as a guided lesson, with extensive teacher notes to support the teacher (or parent) - requiring no previous knowledge of Hebrew grammar (or of grammar in general!)
The following topics are included:
- Types of verbs (dynamic/action vs. stative)
- Regular verbs
- Irregular verbs
- Forms of "be"
- Verb tenses
- Vowel patterns
- "Shorashim" (Hebrew word roots)
A number of activities are included to help students practice:
- A complete list of key terms (both English and Hebrew)
- A "pre-learning" (K-W-L) chart
- Review questions for each concept
- "Fill in the Vowels" challenges to show mastery of vowel patterns
This packet is part of a series of lessons that teach children Hebrew grammar in a clear and organized way. Grammar concepts are broken down into small, digestible chunks and explained on an age-appropriate level. The purpose of this series is to teach fundamental grammar and all the skills required for translation. Students will progress through levels of guided practice with the eventual goal of translating whole sentences on their own.
This series assumes basic proficiency in Hebrew reading. Before beginning this series, students must know all the consonants and vowels of the Hebrew alphabet and be able to read whole words.
On the other hand, this series assumes no prior experience with grammar concepts or terminology. All grammatical terms are explained in age-appropriate language.
