Why It Works

By focusing on understanding and planning first, students are better prepared to write clear, focused paragraphs — and more successful when they move on to topic sentences, supporting details, essays, and longer writing assignments.

This is great beginning introduction to paragraphs and topic sentences. My 8th graders found it a bit too simple - it did not challenge them at all. It would be good, however, for students who were struggling learners; definitely not for high school - it's too easy.

Hi Shirley! Thank you for the feedback. I appreciate it. I have had many teachers say that this was perfect for their struggling high school students who needed it. In fact, I wrote these activities specifically for those struggling high schoolers who really did need this level of help!
