Description

This short task on dangling modifiers involves collaborative learning.
It is intended as a one hour or less review or introduction to dangling modifiers -- it is not a drawn out lesson. The idea is to make it short and effective.

No instruction is initially given -- students are given questions to answer within their groups in order to gain a basic understanding of dangling modifiers.

Students will learn the concept of dangling modifiers much better if they try to figure it out themselves.

Once they have attempted to answer the questions, the teacher can then bring the class back together for a short discussion based on student responses to the questions.

As a follow up, students can complete the exercise independently or within their groups.

Answers are provided in this package.

Hi Lorraine What grade did you try it with? It can be a challenging concept -- I use it to challenge students to experiment with varied sentence beginnings. Thanks for tefeedback - may add to it.
