Description
This product lists several test taking strategies for students that students would benefit from using (and ones they should avoid).
Students work in pods or in pairs to sort the the cards into categories (could be done open or closed). Next, the class has a discussion about the cards. Some examples of class conversations could be around the following the questions "Why did _____ go under the category______?" "How did you sort your cards?" Why will _______ help (or not help) you when taking a tests? Why?".
I did this activity the day before our standardized test as a short interactive review, but it could easily be done as an introduction activity if you are going to teach (more so than just review) test taking skills, vs. just a quick review.
