Description

Do your students need more engaging practice with the difference between a testable or non-testable question? These notes and color-by-code practice worksheet help students understand keywords and how to determine if a question is testable or not.

Notes: Guided notes on what makes a question testable. What kinds of questions are you able to build an experiment and hypothesis from? The notes also include guided practice at the bottom.

Practice Sheet: Students are provided with 12 different questions. They determine whether they are testable or not. They then color in the picture with the correct color. If a question is nontestable there is a “fix it” column. Students write down what would need to change in order for the question to be testable. This is great for building critical thinking skills. This also helps gain independence when they begin creating and writing experiments and hypotheses.

Notes and practice worksheet for students to master their understanding of testable and non-testable questions.

What’s Included:

  • 1 guided notes page
  • 1 practice color-by-code worksheet
  • Answer keys

Great for early finishers, warm-up or bellringer activities, or ticket out the door. These could also be used for reteaching or quick assessments of students learning. If you notice students who need extra practice with this concept these are also great worksheets to provide to them.

Students can get even more practice in our Testable vs Non-Testable Digital Worksheet Activity

These testable vs non-testable questions worksheets go along great with our Scientific Inquiry Processes Unit. The first science activities we do at the beginning of the year are to get students understanding What a Scientist is and what they do. We use this for students to reference using science tools, setting up labs and controlling variables.
