Description

This set includes a one-page Reading with 7 multiple choice comprehension questions. The text summarizes the events, causes and effects of Texas Independence.

I use these in classes to reinforce the Common Core Reading Informational Text within my Middle School World History/Cultures Classes. The content reinforces the social studies content while providing the students with practice for state assessments.

I print the worksheets for each students, have each student read the text in a variety of structures (paired reading, etc.) and then using different colored highlighters/markers identify in the text where the support for the answer choice is found.

It has been my experience that my struggling readers get better at 'digging into the text' with this practice. Additionally, the text reinforces the important information covering the World History content.

A key is included.
