Text Based Writing - Narrative

In this product, you will find:

  • Two non-fiction articles about the history of an apple
  • One fiction tall tale (Johnny Appleseed)
  • Infographic about apples
  • Prompt

This product was created to prepare students for the new, rigorous state standardized test – specifically in Indiana (ILEARN). I created this product to challenge students to analyze multiple sources as they are asked to complete a writing performance task. The performance task will require students to write a narrative essay from an apple's point of view.

My students really enjoyed this activity. Fictional writing is much easier for my co-taught students, however, the rigor in this activity made it work for my whole class.
