This is a BUNDLE that includes a text features lesson as well as 5 practice pages. These pages can be used as practice, center work, independent work, small group instruction, or even as assessments!

TEXT FEATURES LESSON:

This lesson is NO PREP! After purchasing, you can download the presentation immediately into your Google Drive™. Your students will love learning about 11 different text features with a fun frog theme presentation.

Included:

A Google Slides™ presentation with a separate slide for each of the following text features:

  • caption
  • heading
  • photograph
  • index
  • glossary
  • table of contents
  • sidebar
  • bolded text
  • diagram
  • chart/graph
  • map

A teacher guide is also included. It gives an additional engagement idea for your students as well as expert management tips!

TEXT FEATURES PRACTICE PAGES:

These pages come as a NO PREP printable PDF document. Included are 5 practice pages that use a variety of engaging techniques to to practice text features. This resource also works with distance learning with the TPT Digital Overlay Tool.

Included:

  • Text Features Scavenger Book Hunt: In this page students will use an informational text of their choice to find different text features in their book. This is great to use as a whole class activity to first teach or as an initial review of text features.

  • Text Features Show What You Know: In this page students will select a text feature from the word bank and write it in one of the small boxes provided. In the square around the box they can doodle, write key words, or explain everything they know about that text feature. I like copying this page front to back so students can practice 8 text features. This is also great as an assessment.

  • Text Features Match: In this page students will draw a line from the text feature to the definition. Great for a practice page, a quick progress check or exit ticket.

  • Text Features Animal Write Up: In this page students select an animal of their choice. They are will use what’s in their head or may research their animal in order to write and complete the text features about their animal! Great to use as a final assessment or as a center activity.

  • Text Feature Pictures: In this page students will look at each picture of the text feature and label it correctly.
