Description

This hands-on text structure activity introduces students to the concepts of text structure in a fun way. Even better, the cards and passages are not organized, so the students can help cut out the text structure sort! This updated product now includes multiple-choice text structure practice questions.

⭐If you need more text structure resources, check out the Text Structure Bundle!⭐

Need extra practice for text structure - these Text Structure Task Cards provide ample opportunity for students to practice and analyze text organization.

In this text structure lesson, students are asked to sort:

  • the text pattern definition
  • keywords or signal words
  • graphic organizers
  • a title for a type of writing
  • text structure passages

Students will determine the correct text structure graphic organizer, keywords, definition, and text structure passage for each text structure type listed below.

This nonfiction text structure worksheet focuses on the 5 text patterns:

•cause and effect

•descriptive

•compare and contrast

•problem and solution

•sequence/chronological

The student sheet is not organized in any specific pattern, which allows the students to cut out the nonfiction text structure graphic organizer for you, without seeing the answers. I like to do that because, for me, the hardest part of a sort is finding the time to do all that cutting!

This resource would be fantastic if it weren't riddled with grammatical errors. Once those get fixed, it'll be great.
