A digital breakout has students find a series of online clues to unlock "locks." Breakouts are a great way to increase student engagement in the 21st century. The 4Cs are incorporated as students must collaborate, communicate, create, and think critically!

3. Text Structure and Features Project
This assignment has students apply their knowledge of text structure and text features by creating a digital newspaper/newsletter on a non-fiction topic of their choice.
Students must write at least 5 paragraphs on their topic utilizing the following structures:
- Description
- Compare and Contrast
- Cause and Effect
- Order and Sequence
- Problem Solution
Students must also include a variety of different text features:
- Glossary
- Images & Captions
- Headings & Subheadings
- Chart
- Graph
- Diagram
Grading rubric and student samples included.
